Employment Opportunities
At Smithfield, there are four major areas of operation in which our employees work as teams. These areas of operation are:
- Administration - where tasks include handling enquiries and customer relations, record-keeping using feedlot software, accounts payable and receivable, recording and reporting of cattle performance, handling of trucks over the weighbridge, and general administration duties, etc.

- Livestock - where tasks include pen riding, inducting cattle into the feedlot, treating cattle, drafting cattle and cattle dispatch, etc.

- Feed Mill - where tasks include milling of grain, batching of commodities into batch boxes, feed delivery, general maintenance of feed mill plant and equipment, grain testing, unloading trucks, etc.

- Maintenance - where tasks include the maintenance and servicing of plant and equipment, building and maintenance of feedlot facilities such as pens and yards, pen hygiene, etc. Essentially, our maintenance team are "Jacks of all trades".

Within each of these areas, a supervisor oversees operations and their employees, and in addition to this the Feedlot Manager oversees operations in all areas. All managers work within the feedlot, often alongside employees, on a day to day basis.
In order to ensure that our employees are well looked after both inside and outside of work, Smithfield Feedlot offers a wide range of accommodation options for employees, all of which are in very close proximity to the feedlot. Accommodation is offered to employees requiring this in conjunction with our very attractive wage and salary packages. Employees of Smithfield also enjoy a very high standard of workplace health and safety.
Smithfield is an equal opportunity employer, and employs both permanent and casual staff.
